Die Übersetzer und Dolmetscher, die sich entschieden haben, für die Justiz zu arbeiten, nehmen sich noch eine höhere Hürde in Ihrer Karriere, und zwar sie gehen einen weiteren Schritt und übersetzen nicht aus einer Fremdsprache in die Muttersprache oder umgekehrt, sondern es geht um Übersetzen aus einer Fachsprache in die andere Fachsprache, eine von denen auch eine Fremdsprache ist. Wir alle kennen es – wir lesen einen Versicherungsvertrag in der eigenen Muttersprache und stellen fest, dass wir etwas nicht verstanden haben und bitten den fachkundigen Bekannten oder den Versicherungsmakler den einen oder anderen Punkt zu erklären. Das Gefühl, das man hat, wenn man in der eigenen Muttersprache etwas nicht versteht, frustriert mich als Linguistin sehr.  Deswegen wusste ich immer, dass nur ein Übersetzerstudium wird mir nicht reichen. Das war der Grund, warum ich im Anschluss an mein erstes Studium BWL zu meinem zweiten Studium gewählt habe. Da bin ich zum ersten Mal auf das Fach Recht gestoßen. Als erstes mussten wir lernen, Gesetze zu lesen. Anfangs hat der Professor das eine oder andere Gesetz mehrmals laut vorgelesen und dabei an richtigen Stellen Pausen gemacht, die wir im Text auch markieren mussten. Nach und nach ging es dann auch ohne den Professor. Ja, man musste einen Paragraph drei bis fünfmal gelesen zu haben, bis man was verstand. Es war sehr interessant und spannen, zu lernen logisch und präzise zu denken, einen komplizierten und verwirrenden Fall mit Hilfe von Gesetzen zu lösen.  zu  Angenommen, wenn unser Versicherungsvertrag in einer Fremdsprache verfasst wurde, dann könnte man alles eventuell mit mangelndem Wortschatz erklären. Das gilt aber nur bedingt für die Muttersprache.

Aber hier muss man natürlich auch sagen, allen Fachsprachen grundsätzlich wirft man vor, dass sie für die Allgemeinheit entweder gar nicht oder nur schwer verständlich sind.

Viele Linguisten kennen auch aus ihrem Studium das Fach Rechtslinguistik.

Fachsprache Recht ist durch bestimmte Eigenschaften wie hohe Abstraktion und Eindeutigkeit charakterisiert. Einerseits sollte es den Übersetzungsprozess ziemlich einfach machen. Andererseits ist es unheimlich schwer, aus einer Fachsprache in die andere Fachsprache zu übersetzen. Der Übersetzer muss zwar nicht erklären, was der eine oder andere Begriff bedeutet, aber er muss präzise und fachlich richtig übersetzen.  Im engen Zusammenhang mit dem Übersetzungsprozess ist auch der Begriff der Rechtskultur. Der Übersetzer ist auch im ständigen Vergleich der eigenen und der fremden Rechtskultur. In diesem Es reicht ja nicht, nur die Wörter zu kennen, man muss diese juristische Bedeutung in allen Arbeitssprachen kennen. Latein kommt auch noch dazu.

Dieses Juristenlatein für Nichtjuristen zu lernen ist ein dauerhafter Prozess. Hier muss man als Person nicht nur ergebnisorientiert sein, sondern auch Freude und Spaß am Prozess selbst haben.

In Zeiten der fortschreitenden Globalisierung ist der Übersetzungsprozess technisch einfacher geworden. Dank dem weltweiten Netz habe wir Zugriff auf Glossare und Gesetzestexte. Auf deren Basis erstelle ich mir meine eigene Terminologiedatenbank, die von Tag zu Tag wächst. Die Strafgesetzbücher habe ich mittlerweile in drei Sprachen und sie sind meine Lieblingslektüre.
